Who am I and what does that have to do with teaching music?

In the following video I describe some of the following themes, ideas, and issues that we are addressing during a Music Learning and Teaching course at Arizona State University for designing and facilitating secondary music programs:

  • Approaches to think through our own backgrounds and how our life experiences, musical experiences, and cultures might relate to how we approach music teaching.
  • Aspects of culture in relation to learning and teaching
  • Working to recognize and avoid ableism

Our main theme was to develop a shared understanding of how we can be a supportive learning community throughout the semester (and how this relates to supporting secondary music programs).

This is the second recap and synthesis video of a Music Learning and Teaching course for designing and facilitating secondary music programs at Arizona State University. You can learn more about our Music Learning and Teaching Program at ASU here.
