Track 1 – Has anyone had their music students contribute material related to music for the wikipedia?

Track 2
– Your students may be interested in the world’s longest concert. The “as slow as possible” project could lead into some interesting discussion in your class.

Track 3 – My first thought when I found the link to this online test ( via musical perceptions) to determine if someone can hear incorrect pitches in excerpts of familiar songs was that it would be an interesting experiment to try in my general music classes. My second thought was “How many of these familiar excerpts songs would actually be familiar enough to our students to make the test work as intended?”. My third thought was “How long would it take students to ditch the test and just start creating mash ups by playing multiple examples at the same time?”!

Track 4 If your students are hip hop fans you are probably already familiar with some fusion genres such as reggaeton that combine musical elements of hip hop with elements of other types of music. Get a head start on your students by learning about Kwaito (via Singing South African-ness) so you can chat with them about it when the genre catches on in the US.

Track 5 – Are any of your students having a jam session with their Nintendo systems? If that’s a little too abstract for them, maybe they’re developing some musical skills with a video game gorilla. Or maybe they are rocking out on the air guitar connected to their playstation system.
