Institute of Popular Music – Music Educator Workshop 2014

I’m looking forward to presenting at the upcoming University of Rochester Institute of Popular Music (IPM) 2014 Music Educator Workshop.

If you live in or around New York, consider being a part of the learning community! This is a fantastic opportunity for music educators. A full day of workshops related to popular music and culture pedagogy for only $20.

The workshop takes place on July 14 2014 and includes the following presenters:

Matt Warren – Popular music-based composition starters for your classroom

Ann Marie Stanley & Dan Isbell – But how is this supposed to work? Practical applications of popular musicianship in the classroom

Evan Tobias – Rethinking aural skills and analysis through popular music and culture

Michael Albertson – Student-led assessment in a high school guitar classroom

John Covach – The promise and perils of online learning, or can you really teach 40,000 students at once

Dan Newsom – America, 1964: The year in music, history, and culture

Richard McCready – Teaching and assessing creativity
