Curious about the instruments/interfaces/equipment we featured?
Sound Tinkerers (Playing with Sound)
- Sound design tools – designed by Nathan Smith
- Sound-play Peg Board
- Youkulele and other DIY ukes
Instrument Makers (Designing Instruments and Interfaces)
- Makey Makey & SoundPlant
- Graphite Crayons (We’ve found these 6B & 9B Graphite crayons to be an easy and low-cost way to draw instruments that can conduct enough electricity to complete circuits when designing instruments & interfaces with the Makey Makey and similar devices)
- Freesound.org
- all sounds we used for the Makey Makey instruments were downloaded from Freesound.org (you can find many other free sound libraries here)
- For variety of pitches, I dragged one sample to a key and then used the “multi-key pitch assign option”
- LittleBits
- Keezy App (This free app lets you record sound and then play the sound easily)
Pixie Players (Synthesizing Sound)
