#LiquidWeber

Welcome to #LiquidWeber a project co-designed by Alex Laing & Evan Tobias.

What is #LiquidWeber ?

#LiquidWeber is a collaboration of musicians, educators, learners, and the public to design and explore processes and possibilities of engaging with the Weber Clarinet Concerto #1 before, during, and after a public performance by Alex Laing and the Phoenix Symphony.

Learn more about #LiquidWeber, why we are doing it, and how you can be involved!

Learning & making the Weber Clarinet Concerto is like a stream. . .

What if there were more opportunities for people to engage with the music, musicians, and processes of ensembles (like orchestras) in a way that was more liquid — exploring streams & tributaries or creating ripples?

Could making music more liquid change the relationships that people have with so-called classical music and so-called classical musicians?

In exploring new ways of making the Weber Clarinet Concerto, we consider adrienne maree brown’s (2017) question: “What are the ideas that will liberate all of us?”

#LiquidWeber explores possibilities of engaging with so-called classical music and one another in ways that are liberated from constraints of closed and inequitable systems of large ensemble performance. Learn more what we mean by this and about the ideas that inform #LiquidWeber. . .
